How to feed with a baby bottle – Some helpful hints

March 10th, 2012 by Petra No comments »

Body warmth, eye contact and attention let the feeding be a comfortable experience for the little ones. In today’s article Isis Maternity will give you some helpful hints for feeding your little one with the baby bottle.

The right posture is important

While feeding your child with the baby bottle it is the best to sit down in a comfortable chair with armrest or in a sofa corner and carry the baby sitting in the arm. With a footrest it will be more comfortable. The head of your child should rest in the crook of the arm. Babies like to have free hands so that they can grasp the baby bottle own their own. Very important is also the eye contact while feeding with the baby bottle – your little one would like to share the moment with you. While your child is being fed with the bottle, it also wants to snuggle with you and feel your body warmth.

The nipple must be right

Drinking out of a baby bottle is for babies less stressful than being fed by breast. The conditions should be similar between both as babies love to suckle. Therefore the shape of the nipple and the size of the hole is important for feeding with a baby bottle. It should only be so big that some drops per second can come out of the downwards kept bottle. A too big hole in the nipple leads to the problem that the baby drinks too fast and therefore swallows a lot of air.

Duration and amount of meals is determined by your child

In general babies can be fed by baby bottles in 10 to 15 minutes. More impatient toddlers might be faster but swallow more air as well. As a rule of thumb a baby bottle meal should not be longer than breastfeeding. If you can interrupt the meal without big yelling, burpingis here and there pretty good. The necessary amount of drinking can be very different from baby to baby. According to the age there can be 4 to 6 baby bottles a day.

When your baby is growing well and feels comfortable don’t push the baby to drink more. Consider that hunger is not the only cause why babies are yelling and grizzling. Very often they are just looking for physical warmth and occupation.

Getting pregnant over 40

December 30th, 2011 by Petra No comments »

If you have avoided becoming pregnant by reasons based on partnership or your job or you were just not prepared for being pregnant then you may hear your biological clock ticking more and more. It can’t be denied that your chances for becoming pregnant are less than a few years ago. Experts say that it would be impossible becoming pregnant with the body’s own oocytes after 45 year of life.

Nevertheless a lot of women even from Isis Maternity become pregnant over the age of 40. Some get a hormonal treatment, others not. Current studies show that just waiting until you become pregnant naturally can be advantageous to you and your child.

Pro:

The probably biggest advantage by waiting to have children is that you have waited for the desire for having children. Many new mommies told Isis Maternity that they had time to develop and to see the world; probably you are now even financial secured because of your professional career. If you have lived together with your partner for a long time than you had the chance to get to know each other in different situations of life. That’s a very good base for a family. It is proved that older mothers (in general they are smarter than younger mothers) make more suggestive decisions by children education. Older mothers rather suckle their babies and according to a study, have a healthier diet. » Read more: Getting pregnant over 40

Maternity Clothes – What you should consider – Part 2

This time we continue our Isis Maternity guideline about maternity clothes with the second part containing maternity clothes for everyday life, buying maternity clothes for less money and some extra tips for maternity clothes.

Maternity Clothes for everyday life

Within the first third of your pregnancy you probably can’t wear your normal clothes any longer. Of course this differs from woman to woman. It might be that you can’t close the upper stud of your skirt or trouser. This fact can be masked by a long top or pullover.

If your breast is growing fast you could wear capacious tops or you could wear a jacket over a t-shirt and blouses – so you can mask your growing bust measurement. Of course you can adhere to your newly found shapes. Boast with you new cup size and wear tight fitting flexible tops (amount of stretch more than 50 %).

Roughly in the second third of your pregnancy more or less the crunch mode begins: In this time you don’t really look like being pregnant (this phase collects glances of “Has she become fatter or is she just pregnant?”), but you don’t fit into your normal clothes. Unfortunately you are still too “slim” for wearing maternity clothes – in a word it doesn’t fit yet. This issue can be very frustrating but can be solved with some magic tricks.

Isis Maternity top 4 tips to hide pregnancy:

  • Trousers and skirts bought one size larger than normal (ideal with elastic band).
  • Wearing trousers with low waist (hiphuggers), these are very modern and fit comfortable under your belly.
  • Invest in a wrap dress, which flatters your curves and adapts to your belly in each phase of the pregnancy (Important: this can also be worn after pregnancy).
  • Wear pullovers, cardigans, wide shirts and loose tops.

Long loose tops are very practicable in the first phase of the pregnancy: They mask gracefully and elegant your growing belly. Moreover you have more time if your colleagues aren’t informed about this yet.

If the news about your pregnancy is floating around you can also make your life easier and adapt your clothes to your situation. It is very smart if you invest your money in five pieces of clothing whose colors complement with each other:

1 good fitting and above all growing trouser in muted colors (black, etc.)

1 good fitting and above all growing skirt in muted colors (black, etc.)

1 dress

1 top

Now you have a base in your wardrobe which you can be combined by some clothes from your time before pregnancy.

Maternity Clothes – Isis Maternity tells you what you should consider

November 13th, 2011 by Petra No comments »

One thing is for sure, no woman becomes pregnant just for the very beautiful maternity clothes.

During those special 9 months the probability that you will have to raise your clothes is quite high.

Your tummy is growing and growing and your normal clothing won’t fit anymore. Within the last two-third of the pregnancy most women made the experience to burst at the seams. Additionally your growing breast will need more support as it will be more sensitive. To close this chapter we at the Isis Maternity Blog will present you here and now what you have to consider with maternity clothes.

Maternity Bras

As your breasts are growing during pregnancy you should consider wearing a good fitting maternity bra which supports the breasts during those nine months. According to the words of a lot of women from Isis Maternity one of the first indications of being pregnant are the growing breasts. The bigger and heavier the breasts become the

important is a good fitting bra. As a result you could get horrible backaches on the one hand and the famous droopy breasts on the other hand. This is because your breasts only consist of fascia and not of muscles so they are suffering from the gravitation. Before a pregnant belly becomes visible most mothers notice that they have to buy maternity clothes like bigger bras as first. As soon as you have the feeling that your normal bra isn’t comfortable anymore you should skip to maternity bras.

You should consider the following when purchasing bras

Support:    Pleaser consider a good hold under the breasts, a wide back strap and wide elastic adjustable straps. Also the connecting piece ahead in the middle should be strengthened.

Cover:    Over the pectoral-region you should have more clothes (no balcony shape). This will be very comfortable to your more and more sensitive breasts during pregnancy.

Adjustability:    Your bra should have a minimum of four rows of shanks at the back strap to make sure that your maternity bra can grow with the breasts. In case of emergencies a lot of specialty shops like Isis Maternity also offer special tapes to lengthen it so you can hook it up at the back.

Comfortableness:    Please prefer cotton bras than synthetics, as a lot of women feel hot during pregnancy. Cotton is breathable therefore you will sweat less. This is important for all maternity clothes.

October 19th, 2011 by Petra No comments »

This time we continue our Isis Maternity collection of kindergarten games with educational kindergarten games. You should also look for our list with circle kindergarten games.

Isis Maternity’s collection of educational kindergarten games

Nose memory game

Train the senses playfully. For that kindergarten game you need several little cans (for example a cream jar) which you are going to fill with fragrant things (tea, dried or fresh flowers, spices, coffee, etc.). Two cans need to have the same fragrant in it. Now the child is told to find out the both identical cans blindfolded. This is a nice kindergarten game with which you can support the scent without any great effort.

 Cinderella

Approximately 10 grains of corn, grains of rice, peas and beans get mixed. Now the kids have to sort out the grains blindfolded. Winner of this kindergarten game is who has the most grains sorted out in 60 seconds. » Read more: Kindergarten games and games for child birthdays – Educational games
